SAM SARPONG – Actor/Supermodel supports Ghana Fashion & Design Week! The Celebrity will be walking the runway during the GFDW 2012 international event! – This Oct 5th to 7th.

The organizers of Ghana Fashion & Design Week® are excited to announce the support of the “NATIVE SON” – Actor/Supermodel Sam Sarpong to walk the runway for the anticipated international fashion event soon to take place at the Moevenpick Hotel Accra on the 5th-7th October 2012.

The Hollywood Actor/ Supermodel of Ghanaian decent will grace the occasion, and bring high fashion flavour to the catwalk shows!

GFDW are very excited of this unique collaboration with the Diaspora’s “Native Son”, considering that Sam

Sarpong is one of the Top 10 Male Models in the world by Mens’ Fashion!

He has opened and closed shows for the biggest designers in the world, such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Dolce

& Gabbana, Jean Paul Gautier, DKNY, and Versace.

The one of only 3 Black male models to ever have an exclusive contract with a fashion house, sharing this distinction with the likes of Tyson Beckford and Tyrese.

Sam has a lot to be proud of as a Ghanaian, and the only Model to have his sculpture featured at the prestigious African American Museum in Los Angeles, a work done by noted Black artist/sculptor, Toni Scott.

For the last few years Sam has been known among Ghanaians for his work as an MTV and BET Presenter and for his recent work in the award winning movie, Anchor Baby.

GFDW Models participants will have the unique opportunity to meet and talk to the Supermodel who has been the Face for prestigious designers like Tommy Hilfiger, Ed Hardy, Levi’s Jean Phillipe, and Ben Sherman. Named as the celebrity spokesperson for the iconic Rock Indie line, Boy London. A campaign that stirred a huge international buzz that pop singer Rihanna sports this edgy line.

This is a great step forward for GFDW®, as Ghanaians from the Diaspora brings various experiences in support of development of this international platform. Sam Sarpong, also a TV Host, as well as in the Music world, was born in the UK, with an early education at the Achimota Primary School, in Ghana.

Having found out about Sam’s interest in GFDW®, He says – “Fashion is one of the biggest industries in the world, and it has long been my dream to explore that industry base in Ghana, such as Ghana Fashion & Design Week®.

I would like to network with fashion experts, business people, government officials and educational institutions to help bring Ghana’s fashion to the forefront in the world market. I am also interested in setting up a center that will train people in the field of acting, hosting and fashion. One of my goals is to establish a Ghanaian Beauty Pageant to celebrate education, talent, fashion and beauty. Hosting USA’s most renowned business man – Donald Trump’s Miss California pageant for several years was the perfect training ground for this endeavor.”

Sam says “I am proud to be a Ghanaian and it would be an honour for this “Native Son” to take my fashion expertise back home to where it all began.”
