There’s no better way to usher in the lighter, brighter mood of the coming months than with pretty updates on eyes, lips and brows. For a fresh look at every age, I picked the perfect trend from the Spring 2012 runways that you’ll love trying out this season.

20’s: Pastel Lips and Neon Nails

Have fun with a Palm-Beach-chic pink lip offset with fluorescent orange nails—a spirited color-blocking look that went over big on the Milly runway. Keep the lip matte and your nails short and square.

30s: Cool Washes of Silver

Sweep an atmospheric pale silver eye shadow in an arc on your lid and above the crease, a trick that opens the entire face, as models at the Prabal Gurung show proved beautifully. For an extra boost, press a tiny bit of the shadow on the upper most ridges of the cheekbones to catch the light and cast a soft sheen on the skin.

40s: Power Brows and Nude Makeup

Confident brows and buff makeup were the talk of the spring runways, especially at Derek Lam. Enhance your arches by brushing through a creamy eye shadow—which blends in easier than a waxy brow pencil—and finish with a beige lipstick topped with sunny gloss for a healthy glow.

50s: Cat Eyes and Voluminous Lashes

Iconic winged eyeliner had a comeback this season, and never was it so glamorous than at Dolce & Gabbana. Trace on tapered, thin-to-thick streak of black liner, angling the tip and extending it slightly beyond the outer eye corner. Perfectly curled, combed and mascara-coated lashes complemented the modern look.

60s: Dark Crimson Lips

Dark red lips for spring? It’s unconventional and bold, and that’s exactly why a self-assured woman can pull it off. Take a cue from the Donna Karan show and swipe on two shades—chocolate brown layered under a deep red—to create the ideal tint.
