Donatella Versace has famously proclaimed her love for the yellow diamond ring her late brother, Gianni, gave her before he died. So, it’s only fitting that the showstopping jewel was the inspiration for the brand’s latest fragrance, Yellow Diamond.

If you can’t afford a rare gem like Donatella’s, the fresh new scent offers a happy substitute. A blend of citron, pear sorbet, bergamot and neroli, the multifaceted fragrance also sparkles with hints of orange blossom, freesia, mimosa, ambery woods and refined musk. Like its namesake showpiece, the combination is luxe but not over-the-top. By the end of the day, I was left with just a sweet, citrusy essence. This fragrance will appeal to young women, but more mature women will like it too – it has enough sophistication to elicit , delight.

And if you’re still in need of a little shimmer, the bottle comes capped with a jewel-cut top designed to resemble a gemstone in the sunlight while its box is decorated with baroque ornaments. The face of the campaign is an Australian model Abbey Lee Kershaw, shot by Mario Testino in Paris.

Versace Yellow Diamond is available as 50 and 90 ml Eau de Toilette, with deodorant and body lotion.
