Honored by the Council of Fashion Designers of America with the Fashion Icon Award in 2015, Pharrell Williams joins an iconic list of winners, including Rihanna, Kate Moss and Johnny Depp.

“If cool was a person, it would be Pharrell, not just for his looks and sense of style but for his kindness and openness,”

CFDA president Diane von Furstenberg explained.

Showing on the red carpet in an Adidas look is a bad idea, unless you designed it yourself. Pharrell’s look was a bit casual, but the artist really managed to pull it off, accompanied by is wife Helen Lasichanh, who wore and Adidas onesie.

Pharrell’s gray look, that photographed white under strong flash lights, was definitely sporty, but it didn’t lack sophistication.

The debut of the Vivienne Westwood Mountain Hat was definitely one of Pharrell’s most stylish moments. Williams’ over-sized has instantly became a meme. When he decided to sell it with all profits going to “From One Hand to Another”, a charity designed to help children learn through arts and technology, fast food chain Arby’s paid $44,100 for the iconic hat.

A black version of Pharrell’s hat showed up at the Oscars, where Williams gave an unforgetable performance. His style was on point for the sporty vibe, with a track jacket and red sneakers, especially since Pharrell already made a strong impression on the red carpet in a Lanvin tux with shorts. Shimmying with Lupita Nyong’s and Meryl Streep was definitely a highlight of his performance, along with his look.

Using a blemish to make a fashion statement, Pharrell showed up at the 2014 TIME 100 Gala in New York City wearing a Mickey Mouse band-aid. The band-aid on his chin, along with the iconic hat became one of Pharrell’s most stylish moments, and it also led to plenty of memes, including a Twitter account dedicated to the band-aid.
